Poor blog, I’m sorry I treat you like the step child I’ve never had…
So if this week had a theme, I would go with live music. Friday I saw The Tallest Man on Earth at the Black Cat. It’s a really great Hipster vibe venue on U St where I and my fellow yuppies go to connect with our inner hipster and with the real minimalists and music fiends. It’s quite the intersection but it’s awesome. He was great- just his soulful, resonating voice, acoustic guitar skills, and charming wit.

Then on Monday, I got to see Phoenix!!! Amazing. I’d seen them in October at ACL and had LOVED them so I was interested to see if I’d be equally impressed the second time around. Man, they just surpassed any expectation. It’s amazing what a difference seeing someone on their own set with really great lights can make. One of those concerts you walk out of on cloud nine… obviously you can tell from my high resolution, professional iPhone pics.

AND upcoming that you should check out if you’re in the area:
Shout Out Louds 5/2 at 930 Club
OK Go 5/5 at 930
ClubTalib Kweli 5/3 at Black Cat
Now that I’ve pretended to write for the Rolling Stone… Which makes me think about Almost Famous, I think if I had been alive then, I would absolutely have been a Band- Aid. Or maybe I just want to be Kate Hudson. Hmmmm. Something to ponder.
Other fun things that I’ve been up to around here:
Two weeks ago, Hannah treated us (Carrie, Abigail, and Moi) to some SICK seats at the Nationals game. I think we were more excited about the buffet and opportunity to get on TV than the actual game but it was still super fun! Even if Abigail never hit on the guy with the receding hairline she thought was attractive.
The next day, Carrie and I checked out Mount Vernon (George Washington’s plantation for those who are not as well versed in American history as yours truly) on the Potomoc. It was so pretty! He had incredible gardens, an unrivaled view, and a great crib. I think I would love to host a shin dig there. But I was really impressed with the museums and exhibits- really well done!
Last night I went by J.Crew to pick up a few things and accidentally invited myself to a men’s private event with some area fashion (fellow) elitists. And guess else who was there- FRANK! As in the Frank Muytjens. As in the men’s designer for J.Crew. I was so awkwardly star struck. I said hi and my name and that’s about all I could muster. He is just soooo good and so suave looking in real life. Also the writer of rules for my unborn son was there. So fun.
Per request of one of my coworkers (Renee who I subject to a constant running monologue of my day via our office chat), I now judge time by EY’s fiscal year end (6/30 for the rest of you peons who didn’t know that off the top of your head. So in EYFY minus two months and a day (which is the most round about way of saying tomorrow), I am going to Paris for the week! I am so excited to see Katy Culver… I have a feeling we’ll have an adventure or two. I’ll try to update this with some of our more age appropriate rendezvous. The rest of the trip will have to be shared on a case by case basis. Ciao!Works Cited:
